Job Description Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging products and materials for storage or shipment by performing the following duties.

Job Description

  • Studies production order to ascertain type and quality of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements.
  • Inspects products prior to packaging and returns rejected products to production departments.
  • Observes packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Stars, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery, or notifies maintenance department as needed.
  • Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to workstations.
  • Responsible for the shifts CIL, CL, and FSIL completion per VeLOCity standards.
  • Studies production scheduled and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Monitors paper and fiber waste.
  • Monitors product waste and line flow streams.
  • Understands customer specifications and strives to achieve AQLs.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate works to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of works supervised.
  • Sanitation of work area.
  • Always maintains safe work practices, actively participating in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Skills and Experience:
  • Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral).
  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong work ethic, and proactive thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $28.80
