JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The IT Project Manager is responsible for the timely and effective facilitation of JAS's IT PMO requirements. The IT PMO establishes best practices surrounding digitization, security, development standards, testing standards and implementation standards in coordination with an international IT team in tightly managed workflows. This leadership role is charged with improving the consistency, predictability, and efficiency of JAS's project delivery capability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other business unit and IT department leaders to define scope, plan, prioritize, and develop projects.
  • Plan project management, including establishing deadlines, determining and prioritize tasks, and assign team members to various deliverables.
  • Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Provide financial reports and budget outlines to Executives.
  • Oversee the development of the project and ensuring that team members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards.
  • Draft new and improving existing project management office policies and processes.
  • Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meet company standards, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines.
  • Accurately document the project's creation, development, and execution as well as document the project's scope, budget, and justification.
  • Ensure full network monitoring systems are in place and documented
  • Tracks and logs all activity both incidents and resolutions to system users.
  • Responsible for properly completing all information necessary within the IT operational methodology as required by the Director of Technology Operations.
  • Prepare necessary project information to support the JAS Worldwide IT strategy.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Technology Operations on assigned projects. Responsible for providing updates to Management and all project team leads/members on project status.
  • Work with the project teams to identify and resolve issues around project related items that potentially jeopardize any of the project dates identified
  • Work with cross function organization teams to ensure the coordination of resources for technology projects and that all services have needed information regarding the implementation of technology.
  • Maintain effective communication with all areas within JAS Forwarding.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Director of Technology Operations.
  • Adhere to all published organizational, safety policies and procedures as described in the JAS Forwarding employee handbook.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role will build and lead the PMO team.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Business, Administration or related field from four-year college or university;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience leading a PMO.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, along with strong attention to details and technicalities.
  • Experience using project portfolio management application such as Shibumi or other application

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Functional Spanish and/or Italian is a plus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate area, perimeter and other measurements. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Other Skills
  • Excellent team leadership and participation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple and varied projects.
  • Excellent technology skills, including the use project management, database management, Office 365 including Word and PowerPoint software.
  • General understanding of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Industry, and the role of technology in supporting organizational effectiveness a plus.
  • Understanding of current computer and Internet technology.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
The ideal candidate will possess a current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Physical Demands

High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; sound judgement and the ability to work under time pressures. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for more than four hours per day and other physical requirements required to perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert force to move heavy objects. Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The JAS Information Technology department is a twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven (7) day per week, three hundred sixty-five (365) per year operation. This position will be required to participate in a schedule that may require evening, overnight, weekend and holiday working hours, and/or on-call response, and emergency response.
