Job Title: Interpreter - American Sign Language (PRN)

Description:

  • Reporting to the Program Manager of Multicultural Services
  • This position supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital by serving to facilitate medical and other communication among patients, family members, visitors, and Holy Cross Hospital clinical and non-clinical staff, and by working to minimize linguistic and cultural barriers.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct (American Sign Language) interpretive services, as needed, throughout Holy Cross.
  • Interpretive encounters will involve interaction with patients, family members, and visitors.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written fluency in English and American Sign Language.
  • Responsibly interact with patients, demonstrating tact and empathy, while exercising discretion in handling confidential patient information.
What you will need:
  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC) must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • Completion of a formal medically qualified interpreter-training program (preferred).
  • Prior hospital experience (preferred).
