JOB SUMMARY: The Intake Coordinator is an integral part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to child abuse investigation, intervention, and prosecution. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for reviewing notifications of child abuse and neglect, by fax, or email, from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and law enforcement, identifying cases that fit within the criteria of the CAC's Working Protocols, facilitating the coordination of joint investigations and forensic interviews, and completing daily data entry and case reports. The Intake Coordinator must establish and maintain open communication and healthy relationships with CAC co-workers, volunteers, and members from all partner agencies.

Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide timely, efficient coordination with law enforcement, DCFS, and the Cook County State's Attorney's office for all cases referred for a forensic interview
  • Engage in information sharing and communication to ensure case information is shared during the initial scheduling phase with all members of the MDT
  • Establish and cultivate open, on-going communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all CAC staff and partner agency members while promoting best practices for child abuse investigation
  • Receive and review all notifications of abuse and neglect received via email, phone, or fax
  • Screen all case referrals to determine if they meet CAC scheduling criteria, then assign priority levels to cases
  • Complete intake assessments, case sheets, reports, notes, and spreadsheets for each notification to track case progress
  • Complete notifications of MDT members and families according to CAC's working protocols
  • Contact, collaborate with, and facilitate coordination of joint investigations and forensic interviews with personnel from partner agencies to schedule interviews
  • Ensure accurate information is gathered for each case and thorough intake screening is completed for each family
  • Maintain and update CAC schedule/calendar of forensic interviews and other agency services
  • Create and enter all cases into the agency database and maintain required intake paperwork and case files
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and cross-cultural awareness in the performance of all duties
  • Maintain timely data entry and thorough documentation for all case contacts during scheduling and intake
  • Provide advocacy to child victims of abuse and non-offending caregivers as needed.
  • Provide on a rotating, on-call basis, after hours/urgent/emergency advocacy for forensic interviews.
