Overview

The Information Security Intern will work with the members of the IT Security team to help in maintaining an enterprise wide information security program addressing issues that span the spectrum of IT disciplines. This job can help provide a broad picture of the many practical aspects of information technology and how information security plays a role in all of them. The Intern should have basic IT Skills, with some proficiency in MS Office products, especially Excel and Visio. The Intern must also be a good team player, able to communicate across the team, and to work with other elements of the IT Staff to coordinate and monitor status of various tasks and projects. The ideal candidate would also have additional IT skills such as Microsoft Active Directory/Server, or network knowledge. Experience with programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document existing processes and procedures
• Assist in administering some of a broad range of security applications and systems (e.g. assist in performing daily and ad-hoc duties on such systems as patch management, endpoint protection, disk encryption, e-mail gateway, web gateway, Logrhythm SIEM, and Multi-Factor Authentication).
• Assist in developing, and assuring compliance with, policies for data security, management, monitoring, and audit to assure information security and reporting.
• Assist in developing, and assuring compliance with, audit procedures and work with information security and development teams to assure security events are captured and appropriate actions taken to secure the environment.
• Help to gather business relevant metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the security program.
• Assist with research and development of new security techniques, tool deployments, and methods to assess risk across the credit union.
• Protect the confidentiality and integrity of financial sensitive information and maintain the technical mechanisms of legitimate access and release of the data to meet the requirements of the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA).
• Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations and all related Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Basic to intermediate proficiency with MS-Office applications especially Excel and Visio
• Ability to work in a team environment

• Good communications skills, able to write clear documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Programming experience, especially in scripting languages such as powershell or python
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
• Fundamental networking knowledge
