Position Summary:

Works with Design Engineering and Production to evaluate process capabilities. Designs and implements processing methods including small-scale automation solutions to reduce variability and control costs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Implement processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner that support Lean/Single Piece Flow.
• Lean/Single Piece Flow Cell/Workflow design and set-up.
• Design and implement fixture, tooling, and small-scale automation solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and work with Design/Product Engineering to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness of proposed designs.
• Specify, justify, and implement capital equipment.
• Perform root-cause analysis on product/process failures and be able to recommend and implement necessary corrective action to eliminate problem.
• Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications to operation sequences resulting in reduction of scrap and cost savings.
• Utilize PFMEA and other techniques to establish process controls in manufacturing with a focus on reduction of variability and very high levels of quality control.
• Monitor processes and be able to train operators to not only monitor the process but also know when the process goes beyond established limits.
• Compile and write assembly process documentation/procedures and provide technical support and guidance to quality assurance, quality control, engineering and sales.
• Recommends and drives technical dispositions for component MRB issues within assigned product line scope.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of five year's experience in manufacturing engineering for manufactured/assembled products. Candidates must hold, at a minimum, a four-year college degree with an emphasis in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Technologies.
• CAD, Solid Works, and two to five years of tool design experience helpful. Must possess strong communication skills.
• Design for Manufacturability and Lean/Single Piece Flow experience is a plus.
