ICU Veterinary Technician
Position SummaryProvides patient care for ill and injured animals in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This position will primarily be working in the VMC Emergency and Critical Care unit; instructs and demonstrates techniques to students; assists students, veterinary technicians and veterinarians in their work; maintains supplies, equipment and cleanliness of hospital areas.
Skills you will develop and utilize include central line placement, arterial catheters, urinary catheters, tracheostomy care, ventilator and dialysis patient care, etc. With four Boarded Critical Care Specialized Veterinarians and two Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician Specialists, we support and assist in your career development.

We encourage and welcome our community to share ideas with us surrounding opportunities to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school in Veterinary Technology; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in extensive patient care, surgery, anesthesia, drug-dosing, and sterilization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the State of Michigan or attainment of such certification within one year from date of employment.
Desired QualificationsExperience in an educational setting; background in emergency medicine.
