Dow has an exciting opportunity for a I&E Technician in Orange, Texas.

Job Summary:

Instrument technicians install, maintain and repair the measuring and control instruments used in industrial processing. They will work with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition to support the process plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of instrument systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and replace defective components on instrumentation.
  • Ability to read electrical, logic, and loop diagrams
  • Electronic troubleshooting and repair skills are used
  • Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revise, and development of procedures.
  • Low and medium voltage motor control systems, switchgear, transformers, substations instrument cable and signal cable
  • Building and area lighting systems
  • Electric motors and generators
  • Motor drives systems (synch./induction/DC/VFD)
  • UPS systems and other power conversion devices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to work on a 5-8 schedule (5 days per week at 8 hours per day) with occasional overtime as dictated by business needs. Participates in an after hour call rotation for night and weekend coverage.
  • Must be 18 or older
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • The ability to perform physical work such as handling of equipment.
  • Lift, push, and pull.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Education:


Must have a High School diploma or GED and one of the following:

  • 2 year Instrumentation Degree, an Electronics Degree, or similar. In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant Military training/experience.
  • NCCER certified in Instrumentation (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference).
  • 4 or more years of experience as an Instrument Technician.

  • Utilize functional, technical knowledge, company standards and educational background or experience to analyze and solve problems.
