HVAC Technicians are mobile and use multiple trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, painting and roofing for a wide variety of customers in an assigned geographical territory. Technicians are provided a company van, tools and equipment. Technicians are based at their home address and access their daily route through a company provided iPad and iPhone. Job Title: HVAC Technician

Location: Lockheed Martin Headquarters 6801 Rockledge Drive Bethesda, MD 20817

Work Schedule: 1st Shift Tuesday - Saturday; 6:00am - 2:30pm

Compensation Range: Based on experience

Other Compensation: This position is not bonus eligible and it is not commission eligible

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering effective, efficient, and timely delivery of the Company's line of services to multiple customers within an assigned geographic territory. Is provided a company van and tools and travels to a variety of customer sites to maintain commercial properties. In addition to performing minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance, EMCOR Field Operations HVAC Technicians perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot and service of commercial HVAC systems. HVAC Technicians perform tests and analysis of data to assure the proper functioning of equipment and provide recommendations as appropriate. Understands control operation, and sequence of operation for commercial HVAC systems. Utilizes multiple trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and roofing, HVAC, and other skills as needed to solve maintenance problems. Has strong communication skills and is able to foster strong relationships with customers, vendors and team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively with Site Supervisor and Facility Manager to determine service needs
  • Coordinates and supervise client sub-contractors while performing service on site
  • HVAC maintenance and repair skills. PM, troubleshoot and repair equipment as required
  • Building automation monitoring and adjustments
  • Respond to Hot & Cold area temperature complaints and adjustments and repairs
  • Performs a wide variety of corrective maintenance work request along with various general maintenance type tasks
  • Assist other skilled employees to perform projects as requested
  • Assist the Team in maintaining, operating and troubleshooting the HVAC heating, ventilating, air conditioning, heat exchangers, chillers, air handling units, and general maintenance issues such as plumbing, painting and other general maintenance problems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of chiller operations (centrifugal) and various HVAC equipment
  • Must have BAS (Building Automation System) experience and working knowledge of energy management systems
  • Knowledge of chilled water systems, glycol heating systems, boilers, fan coil units, pumps and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC controls and operating systems as scheduled
  • Organization skills to maintain the client facility maintenance records and reports
  • Time management skills to coordinate and supervise the client sub-contractors while on site and manage to complete the daily routine tasks assigned

Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or Degree/Certification
  • 3-5 years HVAC Facility Maintenance experience including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and communicate work order status via designated business process.
  • Ability to use and operate handheld device and business systems or document management Database software, including but not limited to Microsoft office, Lotus Notes, MS office (word, Excel).
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulation, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of and comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and Company safety policies at all times.
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Daily local travel between properties.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • EPA Universal certification is required, Journeymen License a plus
  • Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and valid driver's license in good standing

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Frequently is required to climb or balance. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is considered normal. Required to drive a company vehicle daily.
