Job Title: Estimator - Madison, WI

Job Summary: The Estimator is tasked with developing cost estimates on small to large projects as required by client documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
• Generate estimates and lead the estimating process
• Obtain pricing for materials.
• Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
• Inform the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
• Prepare both plan/spec and design/build estimates and proposals. The preparation of the estimate includes HVAC ductwork and hydronic piping take off, soliciting prices for equipment and subcontractors, and preparing a detailed written proposal explaining the scope of work, project clarifications and any exclusions.
• Operate and support maintenance of the company computerized estimating system.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct project site inspections to verify conditions affecting the pricing and installation of the project.
• Attend turnover meetings to communicate the unique aspects of the project to the installation team.
• Prepare estimates for change order work for ongoing projects when requested.
• Use Quick-pen, TSI & Revit software to do takeoffs on drawings for HVAC/Mechanical systems.
• Project setup/maintenance for BIM/design/estimating.
• Download files from FTP sites for estimating, CAD, project managers.
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and other team members to develop and review estimates

• Maintain up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to estimating computer hardware and software applications.

• May perform field site evaluations when conditions required.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in estimating.

• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans, and contract requirements
• Broad understanding of HVAC/Mechanical construction systems.
• Skills in MS Office, Quick-pen, AutoCAD, REVIT, and FTP Sites or willing to be trained on all of these.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to handle confidential information.
• Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
• Willingness to travel to local job sites.
