General Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating various pieces of heavy mobile equipment including but are not limited to Dozers, Motorgraders, Excavators, Backhoes, Compaction Equipment, Scrapers, and Wheel Loaders in support of safe and efficient completion of construction projects.

This position is not located in The Woodlands.

  • Excavator 345+
  • Dozer
  • Loader / Forklift
  • Loader Backhoe
  • Roller / Room / Bobcat
  • Articulated Dump
  • Tandem
  • Crane
  • Motor Grader

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials
  • Perform various activities including but not limited to: road building, fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, stockpiling, road surface maintenance, building and maintaining road berms, loading trucks, and trenching
  • Operate equipment proficiently and safely
  • Ensure operation of equipment is within capabilities and limitations
  • Perform required safety inspections and complete documentation
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Perform other duties as required

Work Experience

  • Must have construction experience / heavy construction preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Should be able to:
  • Read engineering drawing
  • Work Safely
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards

Physically, workers must be able to:
  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
