Typical Day in the Life
A typical day as a Healthcare Revenue Cycle Coding Consultant might include:
- Provide coding reviews primarily for hospital services, other healthcare provider coding expertise would be a plus.
- Provide interim coding support for clients on an as needed and short term basis.
- Perform charge capture reviews for hospital clients.
- Provide education to coders as well as professionals on an as needed basis..
- Market services provided by self and cross-sell services offered by others within the Firm.
- Manage client relationships.
- Research new and existing regulations and laws related to health care.
Who You Are
- You are passionate about helping others and keeping up to date with ever-changing health care regulations.
- You have a Bachelor's/Associate degree in Health Information Management with credentials such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P
- You have 5+ years of experience with hospital coding.
- You have the desire to build your knowledge of terminology, policies and practices, and billing and coding regulations of health care systems.
- You have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- You are proficient in working knowledge of EHR programs.
- You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
- You enjoy multi-tasking and being able to coordinate a variety of activities to meet the needs of a client in a timely manner.
