Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a Forklift Operator to join our team in Ville Platte, LA.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

• Operates rough terrain or standard forklift, move and set materials and equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• May also be assigned to operate other equipment such as, backhoe, bulldozer, front-end loader. If properly qualified to do so.
• Must have the ability to manipulate equipment on unlevel working surface.

Skills / Qualifications

• Observes load set up and stability to determine safest manner in which to move load.
• Manipulates forklift controls to regulate speed and direction of forklift and hoist movement according to written, verbal or signal instructions.
• Cleans and maintains forklift and hoisting mechanisms.
• Inspects forklift for defective parts, documents and notifies the equipment foreman or supervisor of any defects or malfunctions.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment
• Inspects rigging and related equipment and utilizes equipment in a safe manner according to standards and policy.
• Required to understand and interpret load charts.
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees.
• Be motivated and work safely and productively.
• Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.
