General Purpose:

Manage a tank trailer repair facility located in Florida. Is responsible for quality cost effective maintenance and repair of customer and company owned tank trailers while providing leadership and support to the local team. Maintain a vision and operational strategy consistent with that of the entire company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the entire operation at the Florida facility
• Monitor and direct the shop’s operational performance and efficiency; take action to redirect activities appropriately to ensure that all repair/maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner
• Write up estimates and work orders and oversee the shop’s planning/scheduling of work. Report to management on shop performance; implement procedures for process improvement and efficiencies
• Be a direct contact for customers, always responsive to their needs and schedules
• Monitor and control inventory, supplies, and equipment levels; maintain levels as required to assure completion of all work orders without delay
• Coach personnel on performance, when necessary; oversee hiring/termination decisions in concert with Human Resources and appropriate management
• Aid assigned employees to reach performance expectations through training and coaching
• Work with Human Resources and appropriate management to recruit and hire new employees and identify training needs to continually develop and improve the workforce
• Ensure inspections and certifications of equipment are conducted as required by DOT and state health departments
• Actively promote adherence to safety procedures and established company policies in general
• Maintain advanced knowledge of brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, and structural components of tank trailers and the direct repair and maintenance of

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. with 5 years of progressive supervisor management experience in the mechanical/auto/truck/tractor/tank trailer restoration and/or repair industry –OR—
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; Course(s) of Study: Business Management, Transportation or related field of study with at least 3 years of progressive experience as a Maintenance Manager/Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations as related to the trailer industry(Class 8)
  • Suspension

  • Lights/Wiring
• Fabrication and welding-MIG & TIG- Stainless steel, Carbon Steel and Aluminum
• Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems.
• Able to problem solve, using root/cause analysis
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to organize time, energy, and resources effectively to achieve goals (I.E. organizational skills)
• Able to collaborate and encourage employee engagement.
