The Role

We are looking for a Facility Transition Project Manager (PM) with experience successfully managing office and manufacturing facility relocations, and related change management activities. This position is a supporting role to liaison between Particle Measuring Systems departments and the contracted move company, as well as other supporting trades groups, contractors, and project managers. This position requires a well-rounded individual who won't miss details while guiding multiple cross-functional teams and workstreams. We are seeking an individual who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment, and who possesses strong organizational and leadership skills to ensure a smooth transition from the current Particle Measuring Systems HQ to a new location. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of the relocation project, from early planning to final move-in.

Additionally, the candidate will:

  • Be a strong communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Display strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Have a track record of engaging at mid to senior level leadership.
  • Collaborate with multiple external stakeholder groups at all levels of the organization.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • The ability to read and understand architectural drawings, and to create furniture plans utilizing AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe, or other applications is beneficial to this role.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to project milestones and timelines, identify dependencies, and deliver progress reports. Ensure each phase of the relocation is completed on schedule.
  • Create and manage the budget for the facility relocation project, ensuring detailed cost-management practices, and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Identify and select suitable vendors for relocation services such as moving, IT infrastructure setup, and interior design.
  • Oversee and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including department heads, IT, facilities, and external vendors, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the relocation process.
  • Identify potential risks associated with the relocation and develop corresponding mitigation strategies, proactively address challenges that may arise during the relocation process.
  • Work with facility management to implement quality control measures to guarantee that the new office space meets the organization's standards and requirements.

Strategic Organizational Transformation Projects
  • Lead the end-to-end project management of strategic, high-profile projects in a cross-functional, time-sensitive environment.
  • Work with key stakeholders and external partners to develop a comprehensive project plan outlining tasks, timelines, and resources.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with all stakeholders through a variety of mediums, providing regular updates on the progress by leading status meetings, providing status reports, ad-hoc communications, and developing project presentations.
  • Ensure that information related to progress, and issues/risks are being communicated with the project teams, business owners, and sponsors.
  • Routinely identify, assess, and develop mitigation plans for events that could impact the success of the project.
  • Manage budgets - including initial estimation, tracking of actuals, and understanding variances.

Qualifications & Critical Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business, technology, or scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in, or performing the equivalent duties of, a PM role.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably with a focus on office relocations and transitions.
  • Leadership - demonstrates a bias for action and is execution-oriented.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail - ability to work with a large amount of content and ability to consolidate and simplify to drive clarity.
  • Experience leading diverse, global, cross-functional teams, with demonstrated multicultural awareness.
  • Experience with facility management is a plus.
  • Experience with proactive project risk identification and management.
  • Tools - Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).

The Nuts and Bolts

Location- This is an "in-office" position approximately 75% of the time at our HQ office in Boulder, Colorado with the other 25% work from home. These percentages are estimates with the actual schedule to be determined dynamically as needed to support business priorities. Relocation may be offered for this role.

Pay Range

$85000 - 130000 depending upon experience

How we determine what we pay (compensation philosophy)

Particle Measuring Systems determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for the Boulder, Colorado area. We will evaluate external equity, which is the relative marketplace job worth of jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

For new hires, we try to make competitive offers between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. This allows the new employee room for future merit increases during review cycles. There may be times when we will offer above the midpoint. The decision to do so will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and the compensation rates of the employees within the company doing the same position.
