Position Overview:

The Embedded Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, implementing, and maintaining embedded systems for various applications. This role focuses on integrating software and hardware components that relate to commercial vehicle transportation products, ensuring they work together efficiently.

Essential Functions:

• Develop robust, low-power wireless condition monitoring sensors.

• Optimizes power management of wireless sensors, energy storage, and technology management as well as evaluate hardware & software improvements through testing.

• Design, develop, and integrate software and firmware components for embedded systems.

• Conduct feasibility studies and design systems based on performance, power usage, memory, and real-time requirements.

• Write code for microcontrollers, microprocessors, and other embedded devices; coordinates the interface of microcontrollers with digital and analog sensors.

• Completes interfacing with multiple ICs and systems using standard communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.).

• Creates PC level utilities for interfacing and debugging firmware.

• Lead the process for system-level testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues.

• Implement and optimize device drivers, communication protocols, and real-time operating systems.

• Complete testing of equipment to characterize custom hardware and embedded software.

• Conduct research and explore innovative approaches to enhance system performance, optimize resources, and incorporate new features.

• Work safely and efficiently.

• Travel up to 10% of the time as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of embedded systems design, including low-power microcontrollers, microprocessors, and real-time operating systems.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Embedded C, RTOS, and other assembly language for embedded systems.

• Familiarity with embedded software development tools, debugging, and cross-compilation environments.

• Understanding of hardware design & testing, circuit schematics, and PCB layout concepts.

• Familiarity with PCB level soldering.

• Ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively.
