General Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to successfully schedule and dispatch workers, equipment, or vehicles as requests are received daily from customers. Maintains logs, records and schedules of calls received, monitors resources and vehicles, etc. This person must have strong organizational skills. Candidate must have a strong understanding of cities, areas, and traffic patterns. The Dispatcher must have the ability to make good decisions in a fast-paced office environment and advanced planning mentality.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following)

  • Dispatch all employees to job sites daily
  • Follow company training & procedures to assure prompt and accurate dispatching
  • Utilizes customer service training to establish rapport and assist customers
  • Answer phone and book calls when needed to support service center branches
  • Dispatches orders and relays messages and special instructions to mobile crews and other departments
  • Follow Dispatch job checklist to confirm all essential items pertaining to the job are completed before dispatching the field employee(s) to another job
  • Union Labor Relations (as required) - basic principles of labor / management partnerships
  • Computer/Office Machines - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Willing to attend and participate in training and development programs as required
  • Other tasks as assigned by department Supervisor/Manager


Job Requirements
Qualifications

Knowledge of:
  • Correctly complete daily work schedules and equipment paperwork
  • Terminology used in general construction operations

Ability to:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing preferably in English
  • Reacts well under pressure and be detail oriented
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments
  • Report any damage or needed repairs, any unsafe work conditions or any accident/injury to a member of management
  • Must be able to work well in a teamwork environment
  • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality is required and an essential function of this position
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions

Experience and Education
  • Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on construction dispatcher experience preferred
  • High School Diploma preferred

Working Conditions

Environment:

The working environments described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will include working:
  • Indoors within an Office Building
  • Exposure to heavy equipment at times during shift in the yard walking to your office area
  • Role requires working nights and weekends and some holidays

Physical Abilities

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to:
  • Be able to sit, walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Be able to work in an environment where noise and some dust are present everyday
  • Be able to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment provided by the Company as needed
