AZ Global and in market commercial teams receive support for sales and marketing activities via centralized capabilities in Digital content, campaign management, business analytics and other commercial excellence activities. Global Commercial Operations (GCO) provides these services as part of the Global Business Services (GBS) function to over 60 countries.

Within GCO the team provides, at scale, the delivery services across Omnichannel and Commercial reporting capabilities. These services not only introduce new capabilities but also seek to drive improvements in SG&A by demonstrating shared service capabilities for 50+ Sales and Marketing companies.

It is imperative that Global Commercial Reporting area focuses on optimizing our delivery models, digital, automation, driving efficiencies that impact timelines and costs and quickly scale standard processes for the benefit of the commercial business. The area is also accountable for excellent execution which underpins the core commercial marketing activities in Omnichannel, Meetings and events and ability to advise on performance. A key challenge will be defining the strategy and implementing a new agile delivery model for Omnichannel across Content, Channels and Reporting.

Responsibilities

The Director, GPO Strategic Field Operations (SFO) reports to the leader of the Global Commercial Reporting & Analytics (GCR&A) team within Global Commercial Operations (GCO). The Director is responsible for leading and evolving the service areas handled by GCO for the AstraZeneca global SFO organization. The Director must engage across stakeholder groups to understand key requirements, establish a delivery roadmap that balances commercial client priorities, and oversee the cost-effective, timely, and high-quality launch and transition of new reporting initiatives to a business-as-usual delivery team.

The Director must be a leader with vision that combines teamwork skills, business acuity and cultural awareness in order to work across departmental lines to engage, partner, influence, and challenge crucial team members to ultimately ensure GCO delivered reports can be effectively applied for commercial decision-making.

Major Responsibilities

Provide GBS Leadership for SFO Services

  • Serve as the single point of contact to the business for all SFO capabilities; spanning both GCO and GDO services
  • Thought leadership; provide experience and perspective on how to build and scale the SFO capability across markets and business units incl. stepping in to more advanced capabilities e.g. targeting, segmentation and incentive compensation
  • SFO subject matter authority that understands and anticipates how people, process, tools, and data connect to business decision-making for various partner types.
  • Continuously scans the internal and external environment to represent leading trends and practices associated with Strategic Field Operations.
  • Drive process excellence, operational rigour and productivity across service lines
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and application of all relevant AZ policies and procedures and ensure all client engagement aligns with appropriate AZ Code of Conduct.

GBS Engagement Lead for SFO
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with SFO and commercial partners (Digital Health, SFO, GIACE, GCDI & Regions/Markets) through the establishment of forums, communities of practice, or informal discussion to understand current state services, the degree to which services are meeting or exceeding client expectations, and identification of requirements that can address improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional governance committee to review, evaluate, and prioritize how identified issues and newly requested enhancements associated with SFO services will be addressed.

GBS Accountability for SFO Exploration and Expansion
  • Accountability for inflight insourcing/capability build projects for SFO
  • Accountability to partner with the business to develop the multi-year road map for SFO capabilities. This covers completing build out of the current project as well as further expansion opportunities; both from deliver existing services to new BUs/Markets and do more for existing customer group
  • Work with the senior director GCR&A to build and articulate a clear strategic vision for the team, providing clarity on the underpinning capabilities and value proposition of the team and use to influence business partners
  • Oversee business case development, project planning, and insourcing expansions for new SFO initiatives and ensure a seamless transition to a business-as-usual delivery.

  • Operations are delivered in part by the AZ GCO Chennai business services team - there will be a requirement to set direction, collaborate with, and monitor off-shore activities in partnership with our AZ Chennai Leadership team to deliver on operational strategies.

Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in a role associated with SFO Reporting, Analytics, and/or Data Management.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare Industry within a commercial or commercial support organization.
  • Proven experience working with SFO concepts such as Targeting and Alignment, Incentive compensation, field reporting, sampling, and data management of SFO data sets.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across a range of partner groups including SFO, Marketing, Analytics, Operations, and Technology.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects running in parallel.
  • Ability to drive outcomes while developing a team of indirect reports.
  • Project management experience including risk mitigation and planning
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and inspire change
  • Proven track record working across functions with high level of commitment and follow through
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiating skills.
  • Financial performance accountability
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Energetic, self-motivated, positive teammate
  • Digital Operations experience.
  • Shared Service Experience
  • Supplier management experience

Preferred:
  • MBA in a relevant field (marketing, business, strategy, etc.)
  • 3-4 years Pharmaceutical Brand Marketing experience
  • Experience working with MicroStrategy and/or Power BI
