ABOUT THE JOB

Geller House is a 24/7 short-term residential center in Staten Island that provides rapid intervention, assessments, treatment services, education, social and recreational activities for at-risk adolescent's ages 11-16 years old who are struggling with family and trauma related issues including; long-term abuse, neglect, substance abuse and mental illness.

The Direct Support Professionals at Geller House work directly with adolescents in our residence, assisting them to meet their goals, and supporting them in the development of their independent living skills. Acting as a positive role model and providing strategic parenting, the Direct Support Professional is charged with the overall wellbeing and safety of the youth. We offer extensive training in Foundation of Direct Care, Crisis Intervention, and Trauma Informed Care.


TO QUALIFY

The Jewish Board is currently looking for professional individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Necessary core competencies include: ability to commit, empathetic capacity, compassion, dedication and a willingness to learn
  • A current, valid clean driver's license is required for this position and throughout all DSP positions
  • Prior experience with at risk youth is a plus
