Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Data Scientist to solve business challenges across the entire insurance value chain, such as risk selection, underwriting, claims, and others using advanced analytics. Specific duties include: support the collaboration with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and structure an advanced analytical solution to solve it; scan a broad spectrum of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses; prepare internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build, rebuild, and refresh predictive models; support the design, development and validation of models (descriptive, predictive, optimization/simulation and others) built using a variety of modeling techniques; work closely with stakeholders to support the development of a strategy on how to use the model to generate the desired impact; work closely with stakeholders after deployment to support the project and ensure that impact is achieved; support the monitoring of model accuracy, and work with stakeholders to ensure the model is used appropriately and generates the desired impact; and support the development of best practices and improvements to analytic techniques. Position requires a Master of Science degree or foreign equivalent, in Predictive Analytics, Marketing Analysis, or a closely related field of study, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Analyst - Data Science and Analytics, Statistical Analyst Intern, or similar data science position transforming data for use in the business analysis area. Must have 2 years of experience in one of the following: machine learning, decision trees, probability networks association rules, clustering, regression, or GLMs and their application to business decisions networks. Specific experience must also include: applying data transformation techniques including exact and probabilistic matching methods, text fuzzy matching, and data reduction; working with statistical techniques and insurance business knowledge to create predictive models; writing Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Java, SQL, and Python queries extracting variables and data from databases; and creating visualizations and dashboards in one of the following tools: RShiny, PowerBI, or similar tools.
