ZS's Supply Chain & Manufacturing group helps our clients to drive higher product availability at lower costs (stock-outs, carrying costs, and supply chain operating costs) through leveraging analytics, automation and process re-design approaches. Our offerings span the spectrum of strategy, advanced analytics, planning and technology to optimize deployment of resources (inventory, network, etc.) while maintaining customer service levels.

DATA SCIENCE MANAGER - SUPPLY CHAIN & MANUFACTURING

Data Science Managers design, develop and execute analytic techniques on large, complex, structured and unstructured data sets (including big data) to help clients make better fact-based decisions. Data Science Managers will develop new offerings/solutions, drive client impact by delivering client solutions and shape the ZS point of view in this space.

Responsibilities:

• Play a key role in development of data science capabilities for solving problems in the life sciences Supply Chain and Manufacturing (SC&M) space and development of offerings that create scale and advance our analytic platform; Architect and implement AI-enabled data products;
• Drive parallel SC&M AI programs through effective large-scale project management
• Engage with senior client leaders to deliver value through transformative solutions; Contribute to new business opportunities
• Drive business and strategy development through project delivery and client relationship management
• Motivate, coach and serve as a role model for project team members; Recruit new team members as needed
• Own responsibility for work product quality and relevance to client decisions;
• Establish or maintain ongoing client relationships with key decision makers that drive new business development;
• Provide thought leadership and innovation within projects and across practice areas;
• Support development of firm capabilities and offerings (recruitment, training, internal initiatives)

Qualifications:

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics Operations Research, or related discipline;
  
• 8+ years of relevant post-collegiate work experience;
  
  • In lieu of a PhD, 10+ years of work experience may substitute;
    
• Experience with machine learning / big data / advanced analytics concepts and algorithms (e.g. supervised / unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, NLP, recommender systems, etc.);
• Relevant programming background (e.g. Java/ Python/ R);
• Strong understanding of relevant tools/platforms (e.g. ML / data engineering tools and platforms);
• Expertise in Life Sciences (OR Chemicals industry) Supply Chain and Manufacturing domain and know-how of data, typical use cases for ML, preferred;
• Experience in applying ML algorithms to complex business problems;
• Ability to frame first-of-a-kind business problems into analytical solutions;
• Ability to rapidly research, experiment, and iterate towards practical working solutions;
• Experience in going beyond POCs to deploying large-scale AI solutions into production;
• Team management and skill development experience;
• Strong attention to detail, with a research-focused mindset.
