Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Analyst for the Pediatrics Clinical Research Team. The Data Analyst will focus on core data query and management services for the interdisciplinary Data Research Team directed by Dr. Erick Forno, Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM).

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes complex queries to extract data from healthcare databases.
  • Manages and ensures the integrity of large datasets.
  • Provides experienced data analysis, comprehensive, and insightful reports.
  • Works closely with clinical research faculty to understand data requirements and translate clinical research questions into data queries, analyses, and reports.
  • Maintains a clear data documentation (sources, report specifications, tools, coding, queries, issues, and solutions).
  • Stays abreast of up-to-date tools and technologies that can be implemented to improve data analysis services and clinical research.
  • Manages data query.
  • Collaborates with clinical researchers.
  • Provides project leadership.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides experienced analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
  • Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and performs testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
  • Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
  • Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
  • Performs experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data.
  • Performs migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools and makes recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, information science, or related field.
Preferred
  • Master's degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years of data analysis, reporting, or related experience
Preferred
  • Experience working with electronic health record databases (e.g., Cerner, Epic).
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred
  • Certificates in healthcare data analytics.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

$65,000- $75,000 annually based on experience.

Work Location

Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
