This position will support CNHI's Harvesting Innovation Engineering activities.

Lead and execute innovation projects related to harvest process automation, productivity improvement and efficiency improvement of harvesting equipment, focusing on combine harvesters. Prepare and complete designs and system architectures, design reviews, FMEA, test plan. Prototype software development and performance check on the vehicles defining test procedures, if required, and the corrective actions to achieve the results.

Travel to gain product and functional experience, plan and participate in the evaluation of concept systems in the field. Accountable to maintain project log on assigned tasks and work with team through development and implementation phases to meet timing.

Communicate with the engineering team to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion.

This position will report to the Harvesting Innovation Manager but will work closely with various Ag Product Platforms and the technology innovation team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work as Harvesting Innovation team member by developing innovative, functional features and systems that address future Platform needs. An extensive amount of independent thinking is required to generate new ideas.
  • Organize, execute and manage test plan for proving out innovation concepts.
  • Guide interns from university for those activities related to the projects and new investigations where the candidate is directly involved.
  • Review and understand technologies and trends that will influence medium term and long term product plans.
  • Work closely with simulation teams in building &validation of different simulation models on the new systems developed.
  • Transfer features and technologies to the Platforms.
  • Share ideas for continuous improvements on the Ag products and on best practices for the team (tool, electronic design and control approach, sensor selection, document format)
  • Competency and desire to become and stay expert in his/her domain of technology
  • Connection and collaboration with advanced simulation, zero emissions, advanced driveline, advanced hydraulics and electronics embbeded systems teams to implement integraed solutions.

The annual salary for this role is $88,000 - $127,000 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical / Agricultural / Electrical Engineering
  • 5 or more years' experience in software testing of new technology concepts for: machinery, agricultural equipment, automotive, and/or construction equipment)
  • 3 or more years' experience with sensor application, data collection and analysis (Labview, Dewesoft), and/or software development

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Masters in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Excited to participate in all aspects of concept development for harvesting equipment.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following domains: control systems (Matlab Simulink), sensor application, data collection and analysis (Labview, python), software development, machine learning.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact easily in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in field evaluation (+/- 2 months/year).
  • Enthusiasm for Agricultural Equipment, especially harvesting tasks.
  • Experience with off road machinery requirements and operations
