Job Description

Position/Job Title: Computer and Information Systems Manager (COMSEC)/Asset Manager - 3463

Location: Albuquerque, NM (87117)

Position is responsible for leading a team and providing COMSEC within Space RCO and other operating locations covering day-to-day support and activities. The contractor shall provide support in IT asset management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize the COMSEC Accounting Reporting Database System (CARDS) to distribute COMSEC equipment for validated needs of users
  • Consolidate and analyze COMSEC equipment requirements utilizing both user input and historical data to create a justifiable overall COMSEC requirement
  • Through failure trend analysis recommend adequate stockpile of COMSEC equipment ancillaries including but not limited to, batteries, cables, software, and power supplies
  • Participate in technical interchanges and vendor briefs to understand future developments of COMSEC equipment and translate that into an equipment management and technology strategy
  • Provide suggestions for equipment testing and evaluation to prove suitability prior to widespread procurement
  • Provide recommendations for COMSEC equipment solutions for new requirements and technological refresh
  • Identify equipment that requires technology upgrade or replacement and present options
  • Obtain and sustain technical expertise on troubleshooting and organic level repair of common COMSEC equipment including but not limited to; SKL, STE, vIPer, OMNI, KG 175B, KG 175D, KG 250 and KG 250X
  • Act as COMSEC Responsible Officer for Local Element (LE)
  • Process all inbound and outbound COMSEC key and equipment using CARDS
  • Store, protect, operate, and maintain all equipment for LE
  • Maintain all required documentation, training, and reporting for LE
  • Periodically instruct up to 7 individuals in a classroom environment on the proper use of COMSEC equipment including but not limited to: SKL, STE, and vIPer
  • Periodically field trouble calls from remote customers to assist the operation of their COMSEC equipment
  • Accounting for and understanding the various Air Force IT assets policies, procedures, supply chain-based and directives for asset accountability
  • Follow procedures for logistics activities such equipment ordering, receiving, safeguarding, transferring, and disposal
  • Maintaining asset control records in database and will ensure completion of annual inventory
  • Follow all forms and ensure 100% accountability of all assets
  • Ensure all assets are correctly identified and labeled
  • Maintaining and update hard/soft copies of equipment in a custodian folder
  • Provide or report of survey and inventory adjustment record of any assets lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed
  • Maintain and track licenses of acquired software to ensure coverage of usage
  • Maintenance repair and warranty exchanges
  • Other duties assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. Relevant work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree, such as Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Crediting Combinations of Education and Experience standard.
  • Strong people skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills and have a history of success with customer facing environments.

  • Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision

  • U.S. Citizen
Security Clearance

DoD active security clearance may be required at a high-level security. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
