Purpose

The Community Sponsorship Developer assists the Development and Communications Coordinator with recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, especially co-sponsorship teams. S/he will develop and manage the CWS co-sponsorship program and act as a liaison between CWS staff, community sponsors, newly arrived families, and the larger refugee community.

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Development and Communications Coordinator, the candidate will develop and grow CWS's co-sponsorship program through targeted outreach and partnerships with local community-based organizations and established client communities in support of refugee resettlement.
  • Assists Development and Communications Coordinator with training of community volunteers and co-sponsorship teams by developing in depth training materials and holding informational and interactive educational sessions throughout the volunteer/co-sponsor onboarding process.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with community partners and faith-based organizations with the goal of recruiting both individual volunteers and co-sponsor groups.
  • Participates in weekly meeting with the Development and Communications coordinator and the R&P team to assess client needs and mobilizes volunteers and co-sponsors to provide services according to CWS guidelines.
  • Supervises and assists co-sponsors with provision of core services in partnership with CWS R&P staff. Handles communication between caseworkers, refugee clients, volunteers and co-sponsor groups, and established refugee community groups with diplomacy and efficiency.
  • Meets with co-sponsor teams at 30-, 90-, and 180-days post arrival to ensure their assigned family is meeting crucial self-sufficiency goals.
  • Assist in planning and executing a 6-month co-sponsor and family celebration at 180 days post arrival.
  • Ensure a safe space environment in which all individuals are welcome regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, political affiliation, disability, or social group.
  • Assist in the completion of programmatic and financial reports for funders as required.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Studies, Migration Studies, or other.

Experience: Experience in program development, experience in refugee resettlement. Strong experience in nonprofit, social justice, and volunteer management work are essential. Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of comfort coordinating people and resources. High level of cross-cultural competency with ability and desire to work in a cross-cultural setting. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Excellent public speaking skills. Knowledge of refugee resettlement and local context preferred.

Other skills: Valid Driver's license and transportation and clean driver's record are required. Fluency in English is required. Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and internet applications.

Problem Solving Analyze information and develop solutions to challenges that arise during the course of performing a job. Examples of skills and behaviors include researching and collecting facts; defining the issues and the parties affected; formulating options/solutions for addressing the problem; and engendering support for and implementing the solution.
