Commercial Metallurgist

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Plate group is seeking qualified applications for the posting of Commercial Metallurgist. Principal duties of the successful candidate include inquiry and specification review, buildout of rules and specifications into EBS, technical assistance with order entry, and customer technical assistance. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Building necessary rules and specifications into EBS, while keeping existing specifications up to date.
• Ensuring order entry is correct from a technical aspect.
• Providing technical support to customers and commercial teammates.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Material or Metallurgical Engineering, or relevant experience.
• Willingness to travel 10-15% of time to customers and NPG mill facilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Steel plate experience.
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• Knowledge of PSI
• Experience Reading and responding to industry and customer specifications.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively to technical and non-technical peers.
