Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently sourcing Civil Journeymen with SWPP experience to join our team in Emporia, VA. You will be responsible for supporting the Field Supertintendent in various duties.

U.S. Only : Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

Must have Storm Water Pollution Prevention experience. Prefer experience with Solar Power Projects. This is a Civil Journeyman role working closely with Inspectors in VA. Working closely with Wood Superintendents and Site Manager.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of storm water systems, methods, materials, ordinances, and applicable regulations
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, and others on project
• Thorough knowledge of equipment, materials, and methods used for sampling
• Ability to follow standard safety practices and procedures
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Must frequently lift an or move up to 50 pounds
• Vision abilities required include - close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus

Work Environment

• Working outside in extreme weather conditions
• Frequently exposed to wet and or humid conditions
• Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock
