Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Career Development Advisor, and serving under the umbrella of the Student Affairs team, the GSSW Career and Student Engagement Coordinator will serve to bolster student-facing career and co/extra-curricular engagement opportunities across MSW programs. The Career and Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting strategic career services operations and student engagement initiatives; developing co/extra-curricular programming for general GSSW student engagement; supporting student-facing communications; providing general support to GSSW's student led organizations and faculty advisors; and other projects and events as assigned. This position may supervise student employees.

Essential Functions

Career Services Support and Engagement

  • Support the creation and delivery of comprehensive career services to the GSSW community on topics including career assessment, self-marketing techniques, job/internship search, career-related technology (e.g. PCO, PeopleGroove, LinkedIn), career management strategies, and networking/mentoring initiatives.
  • Support the creation and execution of DU and GSSW career-related events and programming, including developing marketing materials, managing communication and outreach, event planning, etc.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group advising sessions both in-person and virtually.
  • Support student resume reviews via PCO to facilitate GSSW Career Services programming, as well as DU/GSSW student employment processes.
  • Support efforts to create an accurate and robust database of career-related information in PCO, including employer contacts, student events & programming, student engagement metrics and outcomes, job postings, etc.
  • Support general Career Services operational and back-end logistical needs, through the creation and maintenance of robust GSSW-specific career development resources, monitoring share email accounts, updating web content, and actively leveraging DU technology platforms (e.g. PCO, Canvas, CrimisonConstellation, MediaSpace, etc.).
General Student Engagement Programming
  • Create, support, and deliver culturally responsive programming (both virtual and in-person), targeting student community building and persistence for all GSSW students. Ensure all engagement activities are inclusive and aligned to the core tenets of universal design.
  • Manage student-facing communications and communication platforms for current students (including Canvas, CrimsonConnect, ReGroup, Salesforce, Digictation, MSW Student Resource Portal, MediaSpace, building bulletin boards, GSSW Current Student Facebook group, etc.). Collaborate with the GSSW Marketing and Communication, admissions teams, and other GSSW staff teams as needed.
  • Work with GSSW Marketing and Communication to update the student services pages of the GSSW website as needed. Support maintenance of the MSW Student Resource Portal content and user administration, to ensure operational efficiencies, and ensure student engagement information is up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with other GSSW teams and stakeholders, to support relevant student programming/information sessions as needed (e.g. quarterly listening sessions, quarterly send-off events, mentoring initiatives, etc.).
  • Provide general support to Denver Campus student organizations (ECO; QEA; SOBA; SWFSJ) and their faculty advisors, including oversight of student organization budgets and expenditures, and developing/maintaining student organization trainings and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Duties: This position may supervise student employees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to build relationships and work with and across multiple, diverse audiences.
  • Experience using/ability to quickly learn DU-specific platforms (e.g. PCO, Banner, Canvas, Concur, ReGroup, Salesforce, Digictation, Drupal, Zoom webinars, MediaSpace, etc.).
  • Experience supporting and willingness to use social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.);
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with underrepresented/minoritized communities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at once and on time.
  • Experience coordinating and leading events of various sizes and in multiple modalities (e.g. virtual webinars, in- person gatherings, etc.).
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to utilize various database systems, as well as analyze data and develop reports.
  • Ability to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and achieve program goals in alignment to GSSW and DU vision and values.
  • Experience using/ability to quickly learn accessibility and universal design.
  • Knowledge of student development theories.
  • Knowledge of NASW Code of Ethics and application to social work education.
  • Experience using/ability to quickly learn FERPA, HIPPA and other confidentiality laws.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or two to three years of experience in a direct, student support role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience working in Higher Education/Student Affairs in a direct student support role.
  • Experience with online learning.
  • Experience supporting student career/leadership development.
  • Experience in workforce development.
  • Experience with website development/coding.

  • Standard office environment
Physical Activities
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $25.50-$28.10

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
