Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Capital Project & Space Planning Manager to assist the Director of Capital Planning in the coordination and development of campus projects, space management, move management, space planning, furniture specification, and signage planning and upkeep.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all facets of project management: integration, scope, cost, quality, procurement, communications, and stakeholder management on all projects varying in size from small to large and complex. You will define the scope of a project, gather estimates, meet with designers, contractors and other consultants, schedule work, and oversee completion for safe, on-time, on-budget results. You will work with various stakeholders and technical support staff to ensure projects meet end-user requirement, institutional goals and strategic mission.

  • Provides development, coordination, and implementation of campus projects. Evaluates and develops plans to address campus space needs through space reallocations, alterations, renovations, and new construction. Provides furniture plans and specifications as appropriate.
  • Provides drawings, space information, scope of work, FF&E layouts, and coordination for small campus projects. Leads the process for project planning development and maintains the campus project database. Provides guidance to student workers to support the coordination & implementation of campus projects.
  • Assists in the development of campus way finding plans. Manages campus signage standard, signage changes, document review, project tracking and implementation. Manages room numbering standard on new projects & review of documents.
  • Support space management activities such as validating existing spaces, occupants and tracking of floor plan changes and furniture management. Assists with analysis of campus space for planning purposes. Conduct space planning research to inform planning and design projects.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple technically complex capital projects.
  • Respond to quickly changing issues and priorities involving multiple departments, stakeholders, and physical locations; develop solutions that are feasible, cost effective and acceptable to the university; communicate expectations of scope of work, schedule, and budget to clients.
  • Collaborates with engineers, architects, other consultants, and user groups to determine specifications of the project
  • Works closely with internal and external cross functional teams, contractors, and suppliers, to achieve desired result
  • Participates in and facilitates project meetings. Prepares progress reports and provides them on a consistent basis to Director and stakeholders
  • Develop plans to assist departments with transition and to operate in renovated facilities. Plan and manage sequential relocations with departments; prepare regular updates as to progress and hold meetings to inform staff of plans. Develop an effective communication plan to inform campus constituencies regarding the space allocation process and decisions as appropriate.
  • Ensures space database is maintained and updated with accurate information. Able to generate requested reports
  • Assist with the development of standards for furniture and managing asset inventory.
  • Manage all signage on campus.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field require
  • Experience may substitute for some of the above qualifications
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Prior experience in higher education with space planning, facilities management, architecture, interior design, or related field preferred
  • Ability to establish priorities, demonstrate discipline and independent judgement
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of architecture, engineering and design principles, building systems, code regulations and construction practices and the ability to apply this knowledge to complex problems.
  • Ability to read and understand all components of construction drawings and specifications, as well as submittals, shop drawings, and any other related material
  • Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling practices
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to interact and communicate effectively with department leaders and external vendors and contractors
  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, space management software systems, word processing and spreadsheet systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Microsoft Projects or other project management software
  • Demonstrated ability to access any portion of a construction/facility site.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
