Cab/Component Test Technician

This is an hourly union represented position. Local UE 506

Starting wage: $23.97

Position Summary:

The Cab/Component Test Technician is responsible for performing complete testing of all locomotive subassemblies (main cabs, radiator cabs, etc.), as well as auditing all phases of subassembly production to verify conformity to all mechanical and electrical standards. Adjust/repair as required. Perform related duties.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of 3 phase power
  • Knowledge of electric motor mechanics
  • Knowledge of power supply usage (set, adjust, hookup, etc.)
  • Knowledge of stored energy components
  • Knowledge of relays, resistors, circuit breakers, contactors, fuses, etc.
  • Knowledge of MOVs, and thermistors
  • Knowledge/skill of hi-pot testing
  • Knowledge of series/parallel components
  • Knowledge of circuit theory
  • Skill in troubleshooting electronic equipment
  • Knowledge/Skill in electrical circuits troubleshooting techniques (test equipment and production electrical assemblies)
  • Wiring/ harnessing - troubleshooting and fixing (Bob Ace)
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical and mechanical diagnostics
  • Knowledge of AC / DC theory, Digital Electronics, and Fiber Optics
  • Knowledge and/or training in Pneumatic Air Systems
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift
  • Must be willing to work in tobacco/smoke free environment

Preferred:
  • Associates degree in an Electrical/Mechanical discipline or related technical discipline from an accredited university or college
