Duties: Adam Naj's Lab, part of the Penn Neurodegeneration Genomics Center (PNGC), is hiring a Bioinformatician/Programmer to participate in on-going research in large-scale genomics and transcriptomics projects looking at Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRDs). Duties related to this position will include: (a) programming and maintaining analytical and data processing pipelines, including some technical writing to support these tools; (b) integration of bioinformatic annotation resources into analyses of genomic data; (c) development and maintenance of web-based portals providing access to information from on-going analyses; and (d) administering cloud resources and local server maintenance in concert with Penn Medicine IT policies. The lab benefits from close collaboration with talented programmers, analysts, and lab technologists in the Schellenberg and Wang groups in the PNGC, and offers opportunities for career development and academic advancement at PSOM.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Biology or other related fields and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with management and analysis of human genetics data such as genome-wide association studies or next-generation sequencing data is required.
Familiarity with R, Linux, SAS, Stata, C/C++, SQL, or web development strongly preferred.
