Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Research Coordinator is assigned to work with program leads to carry out research activities to a specific project. The position will be responsible for a range of tasks, depending on the nature of the project, including recruiting participants, assisting in the arrangement of focus groups by contacting participants, administering surveys, collecting data, obtaining informed consent, basic data analysis, coordinating activities with the research team, and other tasks as assigned by Research Program Manager or Principal Investigator.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize effective recruitment methods to drive enrollment and retention rates
  • Print and distribute recruitment postcards and mailers and process the responses
  • Identify, engage and screen patients for eligibility and enroll them in studies
  • Provide patients with a thorough understanding of the study and answer all questions
  • Obtain informed consent for IRB approved protocols
  • Administer surveys and record data
  • Use data to monitor interventions and outcomes
  • Perform basic biometrics (e.g. waist circumference, weight, blood pressure)
  • Assist patients with biospecimen collections
  • Assist research team with biospecimen processing
  • Schedule appointments for patients to complete research study activities
  • Call, email or send out mailings to inform patients of study activities and schedule patients to complete activities.
  • Raise awareness among patients about ongoing or upcoming research studies or clinical trials through social media activity, involvement in local events, and distribution of customized marketing products
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Skills and Education
  • Undergraduate with at least two years into BS program or Associates degree in a related healthcare field
  • Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve, maintain priority and focus on assigned tasks
  • Attention to detail and documentation
  • Ability to follow procedures and protocols consistently
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willing to travel locally
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft office and internet related applications
  • Bilingual, verbal and written (Spanish/English)
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to public health research
  • Knowledge of participatory research and working with community
  • Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Current driver's license
  • Human Subject Protection Training is preferable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to independently travel to health center satellites and participate in recruitment events in the community independently (Eastern or Western Region)
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and approach patients in waiting areas and common public spaces
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Must be able to carry laptop and recruitment materials as part of recruitment activities
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS
  • Occasional mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Confidentiality of business information is a requirement. Confidentiality must be maintained according to CHC policies
  • Human Subject Protection Training is preferable
  • Excellent oral and written skills are required
