Job Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer will modify, extend and support Nordson SONOSCAN automated inspection systems including the integration of our systems with factory hosts at customer sites in the US, Asia and worldwide.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Automation Engineer will provide specialist level support within Nordson SONOSCAN Software Engineering Department for both internal & external customers, particularly in factory automation and machine control related to automated production inspection systems.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Tool Automation for integration with a customer's factory host, particularly SECS/GEM and SEMI standards.
  • Developing and sustaining software that controls automated inspection equipment
  • Will work with an international group of Automation software engineers and hardware systems engineers.
  • Field and production support
  • Work in multi-disciplinary team to define, develop and test Nordson SONOSCAN automation software and hardware.
  • Support installation of new equipment, both at customer site and remotely.
  • Troubleshoot field or production issues remotely or on-site and stay with the issue to resolution, including review and analysis of system log files. Perform root cause analysis.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of Nordson SONOSCAN products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or physics; Master's degree desired
  • 7+ years of related systems automation engineering preferred
  • Development, testing and troubleshooting experience particularly in factory automation and machine control
  • Project level experience
  • Customer facing experience

Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Involvement with SECS/GEM including SEMI standards (E5, E30, E37, E39, E87, E40, and E94)
  • Ability to use SECS/GEM software test tools
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting and numerical skills.
  • High degree of flexibility in a continuously changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to serve and train customers effectively.
  • Ability to travel, including intermittent international travel is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (and Visio).
  • Experience in use of Customer Relations Management (CRM) software
  • Knowledge of C/C++/C# in a 64-bit Windows 10 environment, particularly Visual Studio 2017, desired.
  • Understanding of ultrasonic inspection and materials testing.
