This position supports our workers' compensation line of business, Eastern Alliance. Preference is for the selected candidate to be within a reasonable commuting distance of Charlotte, NC or Lancaster, PA so they can report to the office periodically for training, team meetings, and companywide meetings.

We have two openings available - one position will be filled for Charlotte and one will be filled for Charlotte OR Lancaster.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to consistently execute the Company's ecovery® Return to Wellness philosophy and business model that leads to better outcomes for our injured workers and insureds. Responsibilities of this position include serving as the initial point of contact for calls to the Claim Department; obtaining necessary information accurately and efficiently, responding to inquiries and problems, explaining procedures and acting as a customer liaison by answering questions and/or resolving problems, or directing callers to the correct person within the Claim Department if necessary. Participates in a structured training program in preparation for entry into professional positions in Regional Claim Departments.

Essential Functions:

  • 25% - Serve as point of intake for initial reporting of claims. Accurately enter complete data in accordance with company and jurisdictional requirements to set up new claims in computer system. Research coverage on reported claims not matched to valid policies.
  • 20% - Review information on claims to ensure accuracy and completeness; request additional information if needed. Assign and distribute copies of Injury Reports to the appropriate individuals in accordance with established timeframes.
  • 20% - Complete training program in preparation for transition into claims professional role. Training may include limited travel outside of office. Proactively seek coaching and guidance in order to develop technical knowledge and skills. Work collaboratively with Supervisor/Manager to establish and follow a meaningful professional development plan.
  • 10% - Provide assistance and direction to customers reporting claims, including accessing the appropriate provider listings.
  • 10% - Respond to telephone inquiries from agents, customers, injured employees and providers in a professional, courteous and timely manner, providing high levels of customer services at all times.


Secondary Functions:
  • 5% - Enter and maintain accurate claims data and/or corrections. Promptly update and/or correct data as required by company procedures and Unit Stat Reporting requirements (e.g. PCRB, DCRB, NCCI, etc.).
  • 5% - Participate in department meetings and other duties as assigned.
  • 5% - Assist with special projects as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred; a HS diploma/GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience working in a medical, legal, or insurance environment can replace the Bachelor degree requirement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, including Word & Excel, and ability to learn new computer software applications.
  • Attention to detail in processing all information, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including formulating logical and objective conclusions.
  • Ability to assess the urgency and importance of a situation and take appropriate action.
  • Empathic listener with the ability to listen and respond to another person in a way that engenders mutual understanding and trust.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professional both verbally and in writing with various constituencies and at all levels, both in and outside of the organization, including agency partners, customers, injured employees and providers.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including, but not limited to copiers, printers, etc.
  • Ability/willingness to relocate to Regional/Satellite offices.

Position Salary Range
$18.60 - $30.69
The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
