The Department of Psychology seeks an active teacher-scholar to join its academic team. Applicants will be considered for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor and will be expected to teach, supervise, and advise psychology students while also maintaining a student-centered research program. Individuals should possess expertise in cross-cultural psychology, race, culture and ethnicity, and gender and sexual identity. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher with demonstrated scholarly achievement to teach in our distinguished department. The Winthrop Department of Psychology provides a rigorous academic program that prepares students for careers in the public sector, private sector, and/or graduate study.  Additionally, there are award-winning faculty who are recognized for the quality of their teaching, research, and service. Major Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate psychology courses, including a subset of the following: research methods, statistics, cross-cultural psychology, a course in race, culture and ethnicity, a course in gender and sexual identity, and other courses within areas of expertise
  • Support the general education requirements by teaching introductory courses when needed
  • Teach psychology graduate coursework in alignment with candidate credentials and departmental needs
  • Engage in collaborative research projects with undergraduates
  • Support the program by engaging in curriculum design and student advising  
  • Engage in professional stewardship at the program and department level.

Employment Conditions:  The position is a nine-month, full-time tenure track appointment with faculty rank requiring daily on-campus contact with students, faculty, and staff.  Salary is competitive and dependent on academic qualifications. 


Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in psychology or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered and appointed at the rank of instructor until the doctorate is completed.
  • Ability to spark student interest in psychology, particularly those from groups historically not represented in those fields 
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity and potential for research.
  • Strong skills in innovative teaching technologies. Familiarity with such programs as Excel, Qualtrics, and online teaching platforms is advantageous.
  • Evidence of potential for successful collaboration with colleagues and students.
