Job no: 800503The Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking outstanding candidates for a junior faculty position at the rank of assistant professor in experimental nuclear science establishing a program aimed at tests of fundamental symmetries using rare isotopes. Examples include, but are not limited to, using rare isotopes for searches of permanent electric dipole moments and other time-reversal symmetry violating moments, studies of parity violation, and other precision measurements with sensitivity to Beyond Standard Model Physics.
The position will be filled at the rank of assistant professor at MSU within the FRIB Faculty Position System with a joint appointment in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
The FRIB faculty is comprised of more than 40 full-time faculty members and is the home of a similar number of postdoctoral researchers, and 150 graduate and 200 undergraduate students. The academic program in any of the joint departments offer degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.
FRIB is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science user facility and affords world-class research opportunities in low-energy nuclear science since user operation commenced in May 2022. Since 2010, MSU's nuclear physics graduate program is ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report's rankings of graduate programs.
