Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ongoing development, coordination, and implementation of the masters and doctoral level practicum training program at IUPUI CAPS.
  • Coordinates the application process, interviews, selection, and supervisory assignments of all practicum trainees.
  • Co-facilitates supervisor team meetings, provides consultation to supervisors, and coordinates learning and remediation plans for practicum students.
  • Develops orientation and didactic training schedules, plans case consultation/group supervision for trainees, and maintains documentation associated with practicum training.
  • Maintains communication with academic training programs to facilitate practicum student recruitment and success.
  • Provides collaborative leadership and oversight of the training team, alongside the Assistant Director of Intern Training.
  • Provides didactic presentations, observes trainee counseling sessions, provides individual and group clinical supervision, and engages in evaluation of trainee progress.
  • Serves as part of the administrative team at CAPS. In collaboration with the Director, other Assistant Directors, and the Office Manager, this individual will contribute to the development and operation of IUPUI Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
  • Provides direct clinical mental health services, including individual and group counseling, clinical assessment, and crisis intervention.
  • Serves the department, division, and university through consultation and participation on committees. All staff also contribute to the strategic planning of the Department.
General Responsibilities
  • Directs clinical services including individual and group counseling, initial and ongoing assessments, crisis intervention, evaluation and testing.
  • Administers clinical activities including review and modification of policies and procedures to ensure ethical and legal compliance and demonstrate best practices.
  • Implements evidence-based decision making through assessment and review of outcome data and consideration of practice-based research.
  • Develops and implements strategic initiatives for clinical services that align with the department's vision, mission, values, and goals.
  • Coordinates staff work group(s) on issues related to clinical services.
  • Provides clinical supervision to counselors in training.
  • Documents clinical activities to meet professional standards of client care and provides documentation to support academic accommodations as needed.
  • Serves on division and campus-wide committees and work groups to enhance campus response to mental health and wellness concerns.
  • Collaborates with leadership to manage strategic planning and budgets.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Master's degree in a clinical mental health related field
Preferred
  • Ph.D. in a clinical mental health related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 5 years post-degree clinical experience
  • 1 year of management experience
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana or transferable from another state upon date of hire

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
