Range: $65,000- $72,000 based on experience

Position Summary: This position will work with the Assistant Dean of Professional & Continuing Education to establish the University Office of Microcredentials. As the lead Learning Experience Designer for micro learning, this position will use evidence-based best practices in the design and execution of badges, workshops, and other alternative digital credentials. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach to building an organization and a passion for innovation in learning experience design.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a core member of the leadership team to establish and build the infrastructure, policies, and procedures that will enable the formation of the University Office of Microcredentials.
  • Serve as the lead Learning Experience Designer for all current micro-learning projects including badges and Ignite workshops. This includes developing instructional materials following best pedagogical practices with an emphasis on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles as well as assessment and continuous improvement. Apply Quality Matters framework whenever appropriate.
  • Perform labor market analysis to map labor categories useful for students and validate career-ready skills necessary for those markets. Work with internal and external partners to identify and market these training opportunities to corporate partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Build a best in class team of innovative learning designers, content experts, etc. that is committed to evidence-based pedagogical innovation in experimental teaching and learning.
  • Serve as a Project Manager for all learning experiences: prioritize projects based on established criteria, oversee the design, production, and delivery of internal and external client projects. Intervene as needed to ensure quality and success. Meet project deadlines.
  • Build collaboration and strategic partnerships between academic departments, alumni, corporate partners, and other external organizations that will support and expand educational programs that drive revenue and reputation for the University.
  • Support faculty and other content developers in building skillsets necessary for the creation of alternative and micro credentials.
  • Work with student workshop instructors team to ensure educational quality, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and supervise graduate student fellow and student intern team.
  • Identify areas for operational/process improvement and provide support to implement these initiatives using a team approach.
  • Assist with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate.
  • Manage microcredentials budgets.
  • Assist with other projects, administrative duties, and initiatives as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Passion for Learning Experience Design at the intersection of learning and technology
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a track record of navigating ambiguity, articulating a strategic vision and motivating and developing others to achieve it
  • Experience leading the design and execution of micro learning opportunities and managing third-party vendors to deliver such services
  • Able to develop strong relationships at every level, from external client decision makers, to subject matter experts to students, faculty, staff, and other internal partners
  • Experience assessing learner needs, determining learning goals, and proposing a comprehensive learning strategy
  • Direct experience and fluency working with a variety of modern tools and technologies used in formal and informal learning settings (e.g. LMS's, collaboration tools, authoring tools, assessment tools, mobile learning, etc.)
  • Quality Matters Certification
  • Consistently meet project goals and within stated deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion

Education:
Minimal Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Education, STEM, Instructional Design/Technology or related field

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or Graduate level certification in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or similar

Experience:

Minimal Qualifications: 5+ years of digital teaching and learning experience design

Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of digital teaching and learning experience design with demonstrated supervisory and project management experience
