Application Security Administrator (Remote or Hybrid)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This position functions as a Security Operations Center Administrator responsible for managing, maintaining and improving upon technology used to fulfill the technical requirements of the business as it relates to Information and Network security. The administrator will gain the necessary understanding of the Globe Life logical network for the purpose of ensuring the designated security tools are performing as required and that all security, regulatory and business policy requirements are met. This is a second level position where experience and knowledge of the systems, technology and methodology we use is essential. Critical thinking, creative thinking and ability to follow and document procedures are essential.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform daily tasks, updates, system modifications, problem management and troubleshooting
• Documentation of processes to ensure the security tools meet or exceed required performance
• Make recommendations for modifications to systems based on capability and vulnerability analysis
• Participating in incident response
• Maintaining knowledge of the current threat landscape
• Generating analysis reports that will be used to inform recommendations for architectural changes needed to address identified vulnerabilities

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of computer and network security, including such areas as firewall administration, encryption technologies and network protocols, strongly preferred
• Thorough understanding of at least one of the following technologies as an administrator:
• Network Security technology i.e. Firewalls, NAC, IDS/IPS
• Secure Email Gateway
• Securing Windows and/or *NIX based Systems (Linux, Unix, Red Hat, Ubuntu)
• Web Application Firewalls
• Database Activity Monitoring
• Vulnerability Assessment or Vulnerability Management
• Network load balancing
• Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB)
• PKI - Key management solutions
• Web proxy
• Encryption protocols and solutions for data in motion and data at rest
• Data Loss Prevention and Data Discovery applications and procedures
• Technical writing and documentation skills, a plus
• A customer service mindset toward execution of responsibilities

Required Knowledge & Experience

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, in Information Technology with a focus on Security
• Previous experience with Windows operating systems
• Solid to advanced understanding of computer networking traffic
• Previous experience managing mid to large implementations of any of the technologies listed below

Preferred:

• Previous experience as a Security Operations Analyst or Security Administrator in a mid to large sized corporate environment
• 2-5 years of experience in Security or System Administration
• Experience with any of the following technologies:
  • SIEM
  • Vulnerability Management, analysis and reporting
  • Web Application Firewalls
  • Cloud Security
  • Database Activity Monitoring
  • Privilege Account Management and Password Vaults
  • Two Factor Authentication technology
  • Firewalls and IDS/IPS technology
  • Web Content Filtering
  • Data Encryption technology
  • Data Discovery technology
  • LogRhythm
  • Rapid7 Nexpose
  • F5 Load Balancing and Web Application Firewalls
  • Thycotic Secret Server or other Privilege Account Management tools
  • Crowdstrike or other anti-malware and EDR solutions
  • Palo Alto Firewalls and IDS/IPS technology
  • ZScaler Web Proxy
• Insurance industry experiences in life, health and annuity; a plus.
