Reading Hospital/Tower Health is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join an experienced team in the inpatient Cardiology unit. The Advanced Practitioner will be joining the premier Cardiology group in Berk County with 40 years of service to the community.

Tower Health has a growing relationship with Drexel University to advance its academic strategy. Through a 20-year academic agreement, Tower Health and Drexel are partnering to build an additional location for the university's College of Medicine in Wyomissing, less than one mile from the Reading Hospital campus. Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health will expand opportunities for medical training and education in the region, improve patient access to highly-trained, skilled providers, and positively impact the local community and economy. This collaboration will bring undergraduate and graduate clinical education and research to a single campus. The new campus will be completed in time for the 2021-2022 academic year. When fully operational, the campus will train 200 medical school students.

Job Summary

The Advanced Practitioner selected will be employed by Tower Health and will perform evaluation & management of the inpatient cardiovascular patient across the spectrum of settings at Reading Hospital. The provider will participate in the assessment of patients in the ED as well as the Cardiology consult service and must work collaboratively with Cardiology and multidisciplinary health professionals in coordinating and delivering patient care and facilitating communication between the patient and family, various hospital departments, the Nursing Service and Medical Staff. The Cardiology AP is involved in performance improvement to ensure quality patient care and best practice. Responsibilities will include cross covering the Cardiology service that includes patients in the Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Cardiology; Acute Care certification is preferred. The team of APPs covers the inpatient Cardiology service with a 24/7/365 schedule.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Pennsylvania Medical License
  • Previous Cardiology experience and Acute Care certification strongly preferred
