Title: Adjunct Instructor- Heavy Equipment (Pool)

Institution: Volunteer State Community College

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies. Part-time instructors are needed with expertise in heavy equipment. Individual should have knowledge of OSHA standards, construction projects, plans, profiles, and grades. Must have the ability to design hands-on training projects and classroom teaching. Must have experience as a heavy equipment operator.

Job Duties:

Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, distance-based courses as required. Comply with course syllabus content and outcomes and update department syllabus, as necessary, at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract. Regularly check your VSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend. Submit final grades for each course by the deadline established by the department. Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as progress reports, grade submissions, and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Advise the head of the department at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as requested by the head of the department. Comply with all of the College's and TBR's policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
Teaching experience or working in a related field.
Appropriate formal education/credentials as appropriate/required for course(s) taught.
Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

College degree in a related field preferred.
Community college experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and/or experience in the subject area and skills in the use of a variety of instructional delivery modes.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Work Hours: Part-time. Scheduled hours may vary depending on scheduling/student needs. Typically, two evenings per week, and possibly some Saturdays.
