Job Description Summary:
PayPal Global Controllership has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager, who will be a part of PayPal's best-in-class Treasury Controllership function. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for monthly accounting activities such as preparing journal entries, month end review analytics and flux analyses, and account reconciliations. Activities will be performed utilizing SAP, Quantum, Excel, as well as various other systems and tools. The Accounting Manager will also be involved in providing accounting and operational guidance to improve and iterate on accounting processes and controls to support PayPal's business growth.

Job Description:

This role has the following responsibilities:

• Manage the month-end/quarter-end/year-end accounting close activities including journal entry preparation, review and posting, account balance checks, flux analysis and other monthly close activities to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls and policies.
• Management of processes and work product of offshore accounting team including providing guidance and support for issue resolutions.
• Leveraging a solid understanding of accounting rules to provide timely, accurate, and standardized account reconciliations.
• Review monthly reconciliations to the general ledger and provide support for variance resolution
• Work independently to research, track and timely resolve outstanding reconciling items and related issues. Ability to apply advanced research techniques to accurately identify the source of the reconciling items. Communicates with internal resources and/or processors to escalate and resolve these differences.
• Work with various cross-functional teams (e.g. Treasury, M&A, Local Controllers, Tax, etc.) to ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial disclosures in accordance with US GAAP and in compliance with PayPal's internal policies.
• Interface with external auditors and SOX teams related to the accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Support process improvement efforts to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the corporate accounting functions (reconciliation, journal entry preparation and analyses).
• Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance the internal control environment and simplify and streamline the end-to-end processes.
• Lead new accounting initiatives and business processes including the design, implementation and maintenance of key finance and reporting systems, with a focus on scalability and operational efficiency.

An ideal candidate for this role would possess the following skills/experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experiences; proficient in US GAAP application
• "Big 4" public accounting experiences preferred
• Financial systems knowledge and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate accounting concepts between cross-functional teams within the organization
• Ability to manage a diverse workload, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement
• Proven ability to operate successfully in a highly complex and changing environment with competing objectives and priorities
