Job Title: Account Manager - West Allis, WI
Job Summary: The Account Manager is responsible for promoting and selling Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical services within an assigned territory, leveraging relationships, maintaining book of business, and closing new business. This person is the Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical "brand steward", charged with telling the Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical story and clearly demonstrating that Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical is the leading Mechanical, Plumbing, Fabrication, Service and Controls provider in Wisconsin.
The Account Manager is responsible for securing profitable sales to new and existing Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical customers while maximizing customer satisfaction and retention through account management best practices. This position will come with an established customer base. The Account Manager will also need a commanding knowledge of our product lines, as well as being able to coordinate internal resources to deliver outcome-based proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Increase market share by selling Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical products and services to new local commercial and manufacturing customers.
- Sell additional products and services to existing accounts that continue to present new sales opportunities.
- Respond to customer communications within 1 business day.
- Creates and maintains account plans and communicates the plan to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Positions renewable service agreements with new customers and renews existing customer service agreements.
- Identify new prospects, harvest from existing customer to grow and maintain productive working relationships with existing customers.
- Independently establish call plans and customer follow-up strategies and tactics. Consistently apply time and territory management techniques.
- Maintain an understanding of complete line of products/services and customers' issues and needs through in-house training, reading/research, and internal networking.
- Record and track all opportunities within an easy-to-use CRM system.
- Keep management informed of progress and account status. Know when to call for assistance from upper management to keep the sales process moving.
- Attend and present at trade shows. Participate in professional organizations.
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to present and network with maintenance staff and to executives.
- Ability to work a full-time scheduleand travel locally.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience of successful sales in the industry, demonstrated by the consistent ability to meet or exceed expectations, or 5 years of experience of owner direct business to business sales.
Needed Skills:Listening and questioning skills. Strong listening skills are imperative for a successful selling approach. An account manager acts as the customer's advocate in interactions with Illingworth-Kilgust Mechanical to ensure satisfaction. This can only be accomplished by listening to our customer's needs. However, many times the client's need us to ask the right questions to assess their needs rather than simply receiving information from the customer. These two skills are imperative to ensure a positive customer experience.
Problem-solving skills. The primary reason our customer's purchase our services is to solve a problem or meet a need. An account manager must be able to uncover the root cause problem, identify a solution and rally the right internal resources to ensure a stress-free purchasing process for the customer.
Time Management. Account Managers spend much of their time meeting with customers. Time management skills are essential to ensure the time spent with the customer brings value to the customer and the company. Account managers will also need utilize their non-customer facing time wisely to ensure we are meeting customer deadlines.
Business Communication. Business communication is important for account managers to succeed. You must have excellent skills in making sales calls, presentations, and pitches. While product knowledge is very important a "subject matter expert" is someone who can communicate that knowledge effectively. A person who can "tell the story" of a business solution will gain a clients trust by demonstrating that he listened throughout the buying process.
